BOBBY MOORE SINGS

"Nobody Sang It Then Like Elvis; Nobody Sings It Now Like Bobby!"

Bobby Moore was plowing fields on a redland east Texas farm while the likes of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Louis, and Fats Domino were making musical history.  He frequently was featured in high school variety shows, but the thought of becoming a professional entertainer never entered the boy's mind.

Time swiftly passed and the young man graduated from high school and college, taught school, went into business for himself (not in that order) and survived two unsuccessful marriages.

Bobby was an only child, reared by a widowed mother. His mother, Mary Alma, was a devoutly religious woman and she frequently sang hymns while she worked. In fact, they both sang, purely for the joy of singing. She also played the piano.

Bobby began taking piano lessons when he was six and later taught himself the basics of the guitar. His mother's sister sang in a gospel quartet and his older first cousin, "Big" John Roberts, was an accomplished pianist. But music was nowhere near the top of Bobby's list of "things to do".

But as is often the case in this life, the fuzzy finger of "fickle fate" unexpectedly intervened.  It all began one day when Bobby was playing 60s rock and roll hits at the East Texas State Fairgrounds. It was a DJ show, "more for fun than anything else" as Moore recalls.

"I boasted that I could play any hit that Elvis Presley ever had, and a little old "blue-haired" lady came up and wanted to hear "Santa Claus Is Back in Town".  "I couldn't find the track, but she kept coming back until finally I promised to SING it for her if she'd leave me alone.  That was a mistake. Before I knew it there was a whole crowd of little "blue haired" ladies wanting to hear me sing it! Well, I sang the song. And for some reason or another, they seemed to like it!"

A week or two later, Bobby received a call from a retirement home venue in Athens, Texas asking him to sing at an upcoming volunteer's appreciation banquet. "We hear you sing Elvis real good!"  They offered to pay, and the rest is history.

Since that time, Bobby has appeared in thousands of live performances, has created his own recording studios and founded BMCN, the Bobby Moore Communications Network. The worldwide broadcasts can be heard 24 hours a day, seven days per week, 365 days per year.
